Job Summary:
East Coast Civil Group is seeking an experienced Underground Utility Foreman to lead and oversee the construction and installation of underground utilities, including water, sewer, and storm drainage systems. This hands-on role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to coordinate daily operations in the field. The Utility Foreman is responsible for ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with all project specifications, while delivering work of the highest quality on time and within budget.
Job Description:
- Plan and schedule work activities in collaboration with the Project Manager.
- Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications to ensure accurate execution of utility installations.
- Supervise, train, and motivate crew members, clearly communicating roles, responsibilities, and daily goals.
- Conduct daily briefings on safety, project objectives, and work assignments.
- Coordinate with other trades, subcontractors, and inspectors to maintain workflow and resolve issues.
- Monitor and manage materials, equipment, and resources for efficient operations.
- Ensure equipment is properly maintained and in safe working order.
- Enforce all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and regulatory compliance on the job site.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections; OSHA 10/30 certification preferred.
- Track and report daily production, timesheets, and material usage; submit accurate updates to management.
- Inspect completed work for quality control, ensuring compliance with specifications and promptly addressing deficiencies.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, engineers, and jobsite supervisors.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bilingual (English–Spanish) strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in underground utility construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory/foreman role.
- Extensive knowledge of underground utility installation methods, materials, and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred with a good driving record.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen, background check, and provide valid I-9 documentation.
- Strict adherence to company safety requirements and procedures.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Perform physically demanding tasks including lifting (up to 70 lbs.), bending, and standing for extended periods.
