ECCG is actively seeking an Assistant Project Manager for Central North Carolina

The Assistant Project Manager position combines the principles of a Project Manager and incorporates people and cost management. This role will support and assist in the operational execution of projects and may be solely responsible for a large segment of a project or multiple small projects. Main responsibilities of the position include document control and administrative support, as well as leading the planning, execution, and closeout of assigned projects. Employee must have strong skills in the core competencies of safety, quality, profitability, technical expertise, subcontract management and client relationships. This position is the next step in developing an employee’s managerial and communication skills.


Project Management Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute projects, including but not limited to start-up, handoff, chart of accounts, contracts, insurance, permits, quality, safety, schedule, and manpower/equipment planning.
  • Own project contract documentation process to ensure accuracy and timeliness of RFIs, submittals, drawings, specifications, progress photos, and all associated changes to these items.
  • Provide clear communication to the project and field leadership teams regarding project scope requirement, safety expectations, policies/procedures, and project performance.
  • Identify and manage change conditions; price work scopes, secure subcontractor & vendor pricing, T&M ticket tracking, prepare/submit change order pricing, client negotiating, and tracking approval of these payments.
  • Manage project Change Order log; process owner and subcontractor change orders once approved.
  • Provide productivity tracking and project metrics as established at project kickoff.
  • Track field time reporting and vendor invoicing approval (daily).
  • Monitor project costs (labor, material, equipment, sub-subcontractor) and identify opportunities for improvements/savings and problem areas which may result in cost overruns. Continuously monitor project labor to verify project is properly manned for schedule and budget requirements.
  • Manage project financials; accurate monthly WIP reporting, progress billing preparation, budget creation and accounts receivable processing.
  • Inform upper management fully and accurately with overall project status, particularly with regards to safety, schedule, cost and quality.
  • Assist Project Engineer(s) in carrying out their duties. Plan and coordinate weekly training sessions, using topics from the policies/procedure manual.
  • Know, understand and adhere to all project Contract Document requirements that affect / impact the work scopes (e.g. drawings, specifications, Sub-Subcontracts, subsurface mapping documents, and all ancillary documents).
  • Create, update, and maintain project schedules when applicable (or as required) to manage the Work.
  • Mange project close-out process; punch list completion and closeout documentation.

Estimating Support:

  • Assist in thoroughly reviewing all bidding documents/requirements (drawings, specifications, addendums, front ends, etc.).
  • Assist in reviewing contracts (scope, schedule, price, terms, etc.) to help ensure bid is compliant and all encompassing.
  • Assist with providing cost, value engineering, constructability, and schedule input.
  • Supports efforts to complete all prequalification, short listing, etc. bidding requirements.
  • Supports estimating team in soliciting, obtaining, and reviewing bids from subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, etc.
  • Assists in preparing comprehensive bid proposal, including bid forms, insurance forms and any other necessary documentation.
  • Participates in in-depth review of project and proposal with internal team.
  • Follows-up on bid projects that are pending award.
  • Participates in project hand-off meeting with estimating team.
  • Assists in creating and finalizing Exit Margin Plan for all projects.
  • Maintains familiarity with Bluebeam, Agtek and Bid 2 Win estimating software
