Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Utility Superintendent to oversee and manage the installation of underground utilities on our civil construction projects. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of utility installation processes, including water, sewer, and storm drainage systems. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing crews, ensuring project timelines and budgets are met, and maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the installation of underground utilities, including water mains, sanitary sewer systems, and storm drainage.
  • Manage field crews, subcontractors, and equipment to ensure efficient and effective operation.
  • Interpret project plans, blueprints, and specifications to ensure accurate execution of utility work.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and inspectors to ensure compliance with project requirements and local regulations.
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures, ensuring a safe work environment for all team members.
  • Monitor project progress, addressing any issues that arise; make real-time adjustments as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, including daily reports and field logs.
  • Train and mentor crew members to enhance their skills and efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Five years of experience in underground utility installation, with 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Extensive knowledge of civil construction methods, materials & equipment for utility installation.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage and motivate crews effectively.
  • Proficiency in job site safety regulations, OSHA standards, and environmental compliance.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting, bending, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
